Terms of Service

Updated: 29 September 2026 · draft, pending legal review

These Terms govern your use of the Story Reef website and your purchase of a personalised storybook. By placing an order you accept these Terms. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Support Policy.

Who we are

Story Reef is a service operated by STORY REEF LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (company No. 17245258), registered office: 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

What we provide

Story Reef creates a personalised illustrated storybook as a PDF based on the parameters you choose: the hero's name and appearance, age, theme, style, setting, language and others. The finished book is a digital file delivered to your account and by email.

Who can order

Orders are placed by an adult (18+), typically a parent or legal guardian entitled to make the purchase and provide the necessary details. The product is intended for an adult creating a story for a child.

Personalisation and the details you provide

You provide details for the story: the hero's name, a description of their appearance and, optionally, a photo. Uploading a child's photo is optional — the hero can be described entirely in words. You confirm that you have the right to provide these details and are responsible for their accuracy and suitability. How we handle a child's photo and data is set out in our Privacy Policy.

AI-generated content

Stories and illustrations are created using artificial intelligence. We apply safety controls appropriate to children's content, but we cannot guarantee that the result will always be perfect, accurate or exactly as expected. It is a creative product, not a source of factual, educational or medical information. We recommend reviewing the book before reading it to a child.

Preview and payment

Full generation of the book begins after successful payment. Where a character preview is available, you can review the main details of the story before you pay.

Price and payment

The price of one book is £18 (GBP). Your order is sold through Link, a Stripe payment service that acts as the merchant of record for the payment: Link takes the payment, calculates and collects any VAT or sales tax due in your country, and emails your receipt. Any such tax is added to the price on the checkout page, where the final amount — in pounds or in your local currency — is shown before you pay. Link's terms also apply to the payment. We do not see or store your card details.

Delivery

The finished book is delivered digitally — to your account and by email. Creation starts after character approval and successful payment and takes up to 10 minutes. If the book does not arrive, check your spam folder and your account, or contact support.

Your rights to the finished book

After full payment you receive the right to use the finished personalised book for personal, non-commercial purposes: to read, print and keep it for your family. Reselling the book or using it commercially is not permitted. Story Reef retains all rights in the service itself, its technology, prompts, templates and other platform materials.

Refunds and cancellation

Because each book is personalised and created for a specific order, once generation has started we do not normally refund a change of mind. This does not limit your statutory rights. You can also contact Link support about the payment, and Link may refund it within 60 days of the purchase. See our Refund & Support Policy for details.

Acceptable use

When using the service you agree not to break the law, not to upload unlawful, offensive or infringing content, and not to attempt to disrupt the service or gain unauthorised access. We may refuse service where these terms are breached.

Availability and changes

The service is provided “as is”. We may update, change or temporarily suspend features. We are not responsible for outages, delays or changes caused by third-party providers — AI, cloud and payment providers.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Privacy and children's data

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for the child's data they provide.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory rights granted by the law of your country of residence.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one in force at the time you place it.
